Installation Guide

This guide will walk you through installing PowBot Desktop on your Windows system, from downloading the installer to launching the application for the first time.

System Requirements

Before installing PowBot Desktop, ensure your system meets the following requirements:

Minimum Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 or later (Windows only)
  • Graphics: OpenGL support required
  • RAM: 4GB minimum (8GB recommended)
  • Storage: 500MB free space
  • Network: Internet connection for updates and authentication

Recommended Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10/11 (latest version)
  • Graphics: OpenGL 3.3 or higher
  • RAM: 8GB or more
  • Storage: 1GB+ free space
  • Network: Stable broadband connection

Note: PowBot Desktop currently only supports Windows and requires OpenGL for rendering. If you're unsure about your system's OpenGL support, most modern Windows systems include it by default.

Installation Steps

Step 1: Download the Installer

  1. Visit the PowBot Downloads page
  2. Click the download button to get the latest installer
  3. The installer file will be saved to your default downloads folder (typically C:\Users\YourUsername\Downloads)
  4. The file will be named something like PowBot-Desktop-Setup.exe

Step 2: Run the Installer

  1. Navigate to your Downloads folder and locate the downloaded .exe file
  2. Double-click the installer file to begin the installation process
  3. If Windows SmartScreen appears with a security warning:
    • Click "More info"
    • Click "Run anyway" to proceed
    • This warning is normal for newly published applications
  4. The installation wizard will guide you through the setup:
    • Review and accept the license agreement if prompted
    • Choose an installation location (default is recommended for most users)
    • Select any additional options if available
    • Click "Install" to begin the installation
  5. Wait for the installation to complete (this typically takes 1-2 minutes)
  6. Click "Finish" when the installation is complete

Step 3: Launch PowBot Desktop

  • Press the Windows key or click the Start button
  • Type "PowBot" in the search bar
  • Click on "PowBot Desktop" from the results

Step 4: First-Time Setup

When you launch PowBot Desktop for the first time:

  1. The application will check for updates automatically
  2. You may be prompted to log in with your PowBot account credentials
  3. Follow any on-screen setup instructions to complete the initial configuration

Automatic Updates

PowBot Desktop includes an automatic update system to keep your client up to date:

  • Update Check: The client automatically checks for updates when you launch it
  • Update Process: If an update is available:
    • You'll be notified that an update is downloading
    • The installer may appear again to apply the update
    • The application will automatically restart after the update completes
